The Edmonton Southwood Community League (the “League”) Board of Directors (“Board”) takes financial management very seriously. The League recently discovered some financial discrepancies that resulted in the Board hiring a forensic auditor to conduct a further investigation. The financial discrepancies have also been reported to the Edmonton Police Service (“EPS”).

The Board is taking advice from the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues and has implemented more stringent safeguards and processes to enhance the League’s financial controls.

The League remains committed to working cooperatively with the auditors and EPS and will continue to prioritize transparency and accountability. The Board will keep members informed as appropriate within the bounds of privacy legislation and the ongoing audit and police investigation.  

The financial discrepancies are not anticipated to impact League operations or programming. Members of the volunteer Board are understandably upset by these events, and we appreciate your ongoing understanding and patience.
